2956768 Coronation, 1905 (oil on canvas) by Wardle, Arthur (1864-1949); 30.48x40.64 cm; Private Collection; (add.info.: An oil sketch by this superb Edwardian dog painter, of a famous three year old liver/white English pointer bitch named Champion Coronation (Edward VII was crowned in 1902, the year she was whelped). Bred by a Brit, one E. Newbitt, but owned by an American, George Bleistein, she won Best Pointer Bitch at Cruft\'s for the second year running in the year that this was painted, probably commissioned by Bleistein. \'"Coronation" came to this country [the US] as the greatest England ever produced, and with such a reputation it was natural that she attracted a great amount of attention. She is a very smoothly made one, not just right in expression, but very clean in shoulders, legs and chest and remarkably well made in loin quarters and stifles.\' The Pointer and Setter in America, by AF Hochwalt, pub. Sportsman\'s Review Publishing Co., Cincinatti, 1911.); Photo 穢 The Maas Gallery, London.
