Ph?m V?n ??ng (19192008) was a South Vietnamese ARVN general. In 1965, as military governor of S?ig?n, he repressed Buddhist demonstrations instigated by the monks Th?ch Tr? Quang and Th?ch T?m Ch?u. ??ng was regarded highly by American and French officers, and well respected by many ARVN officers. A staunch nationalist and anti-communist, he was considered an ally to various rightist nationalist groups and private armies, including the labor union, the Northern Catholics, several Vi?t Nam Qu?c D?n ??ng (Vi?t Qu?c) factions, multiple ??i Vi?t groups, Vi?t Nam C?ch M?ng ??ng Minh H?i (Vi?t C?ch) high-ranking members, Duy D?n and H?a H?o leaders. Dong fell foul of Air Marshal Nguy?n Cao K? in 1967 and was dismissed from the ARVN. He went into exile in the United States after the Fall of Saigon in 1975 and died in Pennsylvania in 2008.
