Light micrograph of a mouse adrenal gland. The small size of the gland allows all components to be observed at the same time. In the cortex, one can distinguish, from outside to inside, the zona glomerulosa (very rich in cells), the zona fasciculata, which is lighter in appearance, and the zona reticular, again with greater density. In the centre is the adrenal medulla.
