Adrenal gland, light micrograph. 0.5 micrometre thick semithin section of plastic-embedded material stained with toluidine blue. This is the boundary between the reticular zone of the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla. Unlike the cortex, the cells of the medulla are larger and the cytoplasm is clearer.
