Light micrograph section through adult parathyroid gland. Cell cord formed by chief cells among which a few oxyphilic cells remain. The main cells of the parathyroid are small cells (in fact, one of the smallest cell types in the body). On the outside there are large connective tissue septa, with thick vessels and very abundant adipocytes, a characteristic of this gland.
