Wilhelm Liebknecht (1826-1900) - a prominent figure in the German and international labour movement, soldier of the revolution, as his friends called him. From a young age he sympathised with the revolutionaries, participated in the democratic movement, and later joined the Union of Communists, became a follower of K. Marx and F. Engels. Member of the First International, founder and leader of the German Social Democracy.
