Trephina Gorge, in the EastMacDonnell Ranges, isnoted for its sheer quartzitecliffs and River Red Gum(Eucalyptus camaldulensis) linedwatercourses. Two gorges dissectthe range: Trephina, with itswide views and sandy creekbed,and John Hayes Rock Hole withsteep, narrow rock walls. Waterholes in this area attract muchwildlife, including a diverserange of birds.AccessSituated 85 km east of AliceSprings, the Park is accessibleto all vehicles. Access is via thesealed Ross Highway, then a 9 kmdrive into Trephina Gorge, the last5 km on a gravel road.The John Hayes Rockhole trackwithin the Park is recommendedfor high clearance vehicles only.Heavy rains may cause all roadsto become impassable
