With the stipulation that the unit would be built on crown land and administered by the National Health Service, Sir Michael Sobell (Pioneer manufacturer of radio and television) donated ?50,000 to create the unit. A dedicated team of staff take care of individuals and respects their autonomy and supports the decisions they make.
