Statue of Rameses II, at the Luxor Temple on the east bank of the River Nile, Egypt. Rameses II, also known as Rameses the Great, ruled in the thirteenth century BC. He was the third pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt. His mortuary, or memorial, tomb is also known as the Ramesseum.
