Side view of a canary-shouldered thorn moth (Ennomos alniaria) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. This moth get its name from the distinctive bright yellow body. The flight period is July to October with a single brood each year. This species is a member of the Geometridae family and is found throughout the UK, Europe and the palearctic ecozone. The larval food plants are a range of deciduous trees. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in August.
