Galaxy containing supernova SN 2014C, X-ray image. Three energy levels of X-rays are combined in this image of spiral galaxy NGC 7331. Red, green and blue colours are used for low, medium and high-energy X-rays, respectively. Supernova SN 2014C, which occurred on 5 January 2014, is the bright dot just below and left of centre. The image data is from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO). NGC 7331 is around 40 million light years from Earth, in the constellation of Pegasus. Image published in 2017.
