Orion Nebula, composite image. This giant cloud of gas and dust is a starbirth region. It is around 1500 light years from Earth in the constellation of Orion. The area covered by this image is around 3 light years across. The young hot stars forming here are emitting X-rays, which are seen here in blue as observed by the Chandra X-ray Observatory.
