Light micrograph of a large area of breast fat necrosis. This benign condition presents as a lump that may cause breast pain. It consists of necrosed fatty tissue accompanied by chronic inflammatory infiltrates. It can appear after any type of trauma, breast surgery, radiation or other injury.
