The SuperCam (top, centre) is a remote sensoring instrument that examines rocks and soil with a camera, laser and spectrometers. PIXL, an X-ray fluorescence instrument (purple), will analyse the fine-scale chemical variation in Martian rock and soil. The Perseverance rover launched on 30 July 2020 and is scheduled to arrive on 18th February 2021.
