Battles of Taillebourg and Saintes, France, 21 and 22 July 1242, (20th century). Louis IX of France defeated Henry III at Taillebourg, and was again victorious over the English under the command of Hugh de Lusignan at Saintes. The two battles are known as the Saintonge War. From an anti-British brochure titled Who has been the enemy of France through History? The artist is unknown.
