Labradorite, also known by the more descriptive name spectrolite, is a variety of an extensive group of rock-forming minerals called feldspars. Labradorites are often iridescent, which means they display changeable colours resulting from the interference of light reflected by the semi-translucent, lamellar crystal planes. Actual height of this polished surface is 320 mm, provenance is southern Madagascar.
