Submandibular gland striated ducts, light micrograph. The submandibular (or submaxillary) gland is a mixed salivary gland with abundant serous tubule-acini and a small number of mixed tubule-acini. In the intralobular excretory duct system, the submandibular gland is characterized by the strong development of striated ducts (several seen here), which appear less stained than the serous tubule-acini. Semithin resin section 0.5 micrometres thick stained with toluidine blue.
