Brain cancer. Light micrograph (LM) of a section of a section from a meningioma. Angiomatous meningiomas are a rare histological variant of WHO grade I meningiomas and account for only 2.1% of all meningiomas. Extensive vessel hyalinization is present. Blood vessels of different sizes are admixed with bland looking meningothelial cells. The vasculature can be either small and delicate mimicking hemangioblastomas or large and thickened, mimicking a vascular malformation. The recognition of meningothelial cells in the background usually helps in diagnosis. Angiomatous meningiomas have good prognosis after surgical resection. Magnification: x 100 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
