Polarised light micrograph of a colony of the volvocid green alga Eudorina. This alga forms spherical colonies made up of a number of individual cells (green). Flagella protruding outwards from the sphere's surface are used to move the colony. Eudorina is an example of pond plankton. Magnification: x372 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
