Favipiravir, illustration. Favipiravir, a pyrazinecarboxamide derivative, is an antiviral medication used to treat influenza in Japan. Selectively inhibiting RNA polymerase, it is also being studied to treat a number of other viral infections, among them COVID-19. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), fluorine (cyan), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red).
