Illustration of a Cretoxyrhina sp. prehistoric shark attacking a Pteranodon sp. pterosaur. Both of these animals lived during the late Cretaceous (100-66 million years ago). Cretoxyrhina was one of the largest sharks of its time, measuring up to 8 metres long and weighing over 3 tonnes. Pteranodon was a fish-eating flying reptile with a wingspan of over 6 metres.
