Kary Banks Mullis (1944-2019), US biochemist, being interviewed. Mullis is best known for his 1983 invention of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique used to amplify DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) in genetic research. He shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this work. He also received the Japan Prize in 1993 for the same work.
