Niagara Falls, USA-Canada, in 2018, satellite image. North is at upper left. Water flows from lower right-upper left as the Niagara River drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario. White foam at centre marks two major falls. The American Falls (upper, 328 metres wide) and the Horseshoe Falls (lower, 675 metres wide) are both around 50 metres high. Millions of litres of water flow over the falls every second, eroding the rock and powering hydroelectric power plants further downstream. The Niagara River forms the border between Canada (lower left) and the USA (upper right). Image obtained by a Pleiades satellite on 6 July 2018.
