Public toilet campaign in India. In many areas of India a lack of public toilets leads to open defecation which contributes to the spread of diseases. As part of Operation Clean India (posters on wall), the government announced plans to construct 110 million toilets. Many developing countries lack the toilet facilities found in developed countries. Public health initiatives and longer-term research are aimed at developing sustainable toilets that minimise the environmental impact of toilets due to water usage. Photographed in 2019.
