Solar wind from Parker Solar Probe, November 2018. This image was taken during the probe's first solar encounter, during which the spacecraft flew through the corona, the Sun's outer atmosphere. At its closest point it was only 24.1 million kilometres from the Sun, the closest a spacecraft has ever been. Here, the solar wind flows from left to right, with a streamer from the Sun visible at far left. The Parker Solar Probe launched in August 2018. Image obtained by the probe's Wide-field Imager for Solar Probe (WISPR) instrument during the period 6-10 November 2018.
