An engraving depicting one of the earliest production lines housed by the Armour Company's pig slaughterhouse, Chicago. Pigs walked up the ramp to the top of the building then were processed & emerged as finished carcasses. Workers remained at their stations where scaled carcasses were mechanically de-bristled before being hand washed (right). Dated 19th century.
