La Mano Del Desierto ('The Desert Hand') is an 11-metre-tall sculpture completed in 1992 by Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrazabal. The Milky Way is our galaxy seen from the inside, forming a band of stars and nebulae stretching across the sky. To the left of the sculpture is the Small Magellanic Cloud galaxy.
