Wine Flask, c. 1300. This wine flask ( heishi ) was produced in Seto, in present-day Aichi prefecture near the city of Nagoya. Seto ware was made in imitation of Chinese Song dynasty prototypes, and was unique among Japanese ceramics for being glazed at the initial time of its production in the late 1200s. Such wares were later prized for display in tea practice.
