Baptism of Christ, designed 1645-1646, probably made 1650-1655. Unlike Soldani's sculpture, this work has a more balanced, graceful composition and a tender emotional tone, although it also engages the idea of transformation--depicting pouring water in bronze. In its gracefulness, Algardi's work connects closely to the visual language of Guido Reni.
