Italy; Tuscan Arcipelago; island of Elba; Portoferraio: wooden crown of former statue of Holy Mary in Chiesa del Carmine; now in niche in Chiesa della Misericordia; used to decorate the imperator`s lodge in Teatro dei Vigilanti during exile of Napoleon Bonaparte 1814/1815. During exile of Napoleon; the Chiesa del Carmine; former hospital church of Karmelite (Carmelite) order; in 1814 was transformed into a theatre; the Teatro dei Vigilanti. The crown of the statue of Holy Mary was used as decoration of Napoleon`s theatre lodge. In 2015; the theatre was renamed to honor the Portoferraio born Star tenor singer Renato Cioni (1929 - 2014). He sang since 1959 in the USA; had his debut in 1961 at Milan Scala; and in 1965 at Vienna State Opera House. Today; the theatre at Piazza Gramsci 2 is named Teatro dei Vigilanti "Renato Cioni".
