Italy; Tuscany; Castellina in Chianti: historic manor house of Antico Podere Gagliole; surrounded by cypresses; olive trees and vineyards. The historic winery; since 1990 belongs to Monika B鋜-Bettschart and Thomas B鋜; who over years worked in the famous private Swiss bank Julius B鋜. Here; organic wines of highest quality are produced. Most important are the Rubiolo and the Pecchia. The history of the property dates back in ancient times. The name "Gagliole" derives from latin "galule"; meaning "small manor; demesne; country estate". Today; it has 20 ha. In 994 AD; Hildebrand (Italian: Ildebrando); son of King Berengar II of Longobarde (Lombard) origin; gave this very ancient wine estate as a wedding gift to his new wife. This is fixed in documents today in the state archive of Siena. In 12th century; first parts of the today manor house have been built. The way to the country villa is a typical Tuscan Cypresses alley.
