Centre of Milky Way galaxy. Composite radio and X-ray image of jets and ionised gas associated with the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy. The radio data (blue) is from the Very Large Array (VLA). The X-ray data (pink) is from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO). The Milky Way's galactic centre is around 26,000 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Sagittarius. The VLA observations were made in the K-band part of the radio spectrum. This image was published in 2013.
