The relief; which was found in an oecus off the peristyle; depicts Achilles in the presence of his mother Thetis; treating the wound of the Mysian king; Telephus in return for the king showing the Achaeans the way to Troy. - Herculaneum; Ercolano (Campania; south of Italy) ancient town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows on August 24; 79 AD.Herculaneum was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius and covered by metres of volcanic material and this sealed and preserved it.Italy; 2018.
