Estonia; city of Tartu (German: former Dorpat; also D鰎pt): "The Leaning House" (German: Das schiefe Haus) at Townhall Square; today Tartu Art Gallery (also called Gallery Kivisild); built 1793. The hosue was built by Count (German: F黵st) Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly (1761 - 1818); tzaristic Russian Field marshal (Feldmarschall) and 1813 after death of Kutusov (Kutusow) General Field Marshal (Generalfeldmarschall) of Russia; war minister (Kriegsminister) and main opponent of Napoleon. His palace at Tartus Town hall Square (Rathausmarkt) 18 is also known as "Barclay`s Leaning House". Restauration took place; but the strcuture fails; as one part was built on the ancient city walls; the other part on wood which caused the leaning situation. It now hosts the Tartu Art Museum (German: St鋎tisches Kunstmuseum). it is also called Gem鋖degalerie Kivisild (English: oil paintings gallery Kivisild). In front of it; female artist Mare Mikof placed her bronze sculpture group "Women from the Countryside" (1974/78); a record of Estonian agriculturial life.
