Estonia; island of Saaremaa (German/Swedish: 謘el); village of Salme; location Tehumardi: Soviet (Russian) war memorial with statue of broken sword and 60 grave stones for soldiers of Red army who died during the fierce night battle of Tehumardi; on 8./9.of octobre; 1944. The war memorial consists as well of a 21 m high concrete statue showing a broken sword. The Soviet war memorial for the night battle of Tehumardi was erected; in 1966. The fierce fight was part of German operation Albion (German: Unternehmen Aster); in October 1944 until German whithdrawal of S鰎ve peninsula (German: also Sworbe); on 24th of November; 1944. Most impressive and terrible war battle happened on 8th of October; 1944; in Tehumardi (German: Tehhemardi); where German troops on their way to Sorve peninsula (German: Halbinsel Sworbe) war surpirsed by red army troops.
