In answer to the prayer of the High Priest Onias; God sent a horseman and two youths to seize Heliodorus and expel him from the temple. The commissioning pontiff Julius II has himself shown as witnessing the scene (on the left) seated in the gestatorial chair; carried on the shoulders of the chair bearers.
