Gross-Basenach M I military airship, 1908, (1932). First military airship in the Gro?-Basenach series of five M-class German military semi-rigid airships constructed by balloonist Nikolaus Basenach and German balloonist and airship constructor Major Hans Georg Friedrich Gro? (1860-1924) of the Royal Prussian Airship Battalion, between 1907 and 1914. Capacity: 5000 cubic metres, length: 65.5 metres; diameter 11.1 metres, with two K?rting engines, each 75 horse power, built by the Luftschiffer-Bataillon in Berlin Tegel. On 21 September 1908 the M I set a flight endurance record of over 13 hours. Maximum speed: 47 kilometres per hour (29 mph).
