RRG Fafnir glider, 1930, (1932). The Fafnir, named after the legendary dragon, was a German high-performance glider designed by Alexander Lippisch and built by the Rhon-Rossitten Gesellschaft. In May 1931, G?nther Groenhoff made the first glider flight of over 200 km (120 miles), flying 272 km (169 miles) from Munich to Kaaden. Fafnir won the Rh?n competition in the same year. Eugene and Moritz Garb?ty, who were Jewish, were driven out of business by the Nazis in the late 1930s, and forced to sell their factory which lay empty for over 70 years.
