The 'Bremen' Junkers W 33 leaves Baldonnel Aerodrome, Ireland, 12 April 1928, (1932). Germans Hermann K?hl and Ehrenfried G?nther Freiherr von H?nefeld, and Irishman James Fitzmaurice made the first successful trans-Atlantic aircraft flight from East to West on 12-13 April 1928. They left Baldonnel and crossed the Atlantic Ocean, landing at Greenly Island on the south coast of Labrador, Canada. Even though they missed their intended destination, New York City, they were the first to cross the Atlantic by fixed-wing aircraft from Europe to America.
