'The Vickers-Armstrongs Walrus', 1941. The Supermarine Walrus, a British amphibian flying boat, was designed for use as a fleet spotter to be catapult-launched from cruisers or battleships. It also served as a rescue aircraft for aircrew in the sea, and continued in service throughout the Second World War.
