'Representation of the abominable attack perpetrated on 6 May 1932 against President Paul Doumer'. French president Paul Doumer (1857-1932) was shot by Russian ?migr? Paul Gorguloff at a book fair at the H?tel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris. Author Claude Farr?re wrestled with Gorguloff until police arrived. Doumer died in hospital the following day, the only French president to die of a gunshot wound.
