Sosie, 1868. The character of Sosie in "Amphitryon", a theatrical comedy by Jean Baptiste de Moli?re. "Amphitryon" is based on the story of the Greek mythological character of the same name in the play by Plautus, written c190-185 BCE. The character of Sosie was portrayed by Moli?re himself in the comedy's first production in 1668. The French word 'Sosie' means look-alike: the character is a doppelg?nger of the God Mercury. From "Oeuvres Compl?tes De Moli?re", (Complete Works of Moli?re), with an introduction by Jules Janin. [F. de P. Mellado, Paris, 1868]
