Amyloidosis is a disorder where deposits of amyloid (a glycoprotein) in body organs can threaten healthy function. The deposits can arise from several diseases or from a primary immune system disorder. The treatment will depend upon the underlying cause, but the symptoms of heart and kidney failure may also need to be treated. This tissue sample has been stained with methyl violet.
