Light pillars above Les Gets (Haute-Savoie). During the very cold night (-11  C) of December 13, 2018, the presence of crystals in suspension above Les Gets creates luminous pillars above the city. This phenomenon is not frequent in France. It occurs most often during extreme cold in medium and high mountains. It can be linked to natural freezing fog, snow cannons, or wood-burning emissions.
