Forehead and eyelid muscles, illustration. The muscles labelled here are the corrugator supercilii, the procerus, and two parts of the orbicularis oculi (shown here as the pretarsal and preseptal segments). The corrugator supercilii muscle is used to pull the eyebrows downwards (it is also called the 'frowning' muscle). The procerus muscle can pull the skin between the eyes downwards, contributing towards expressions of anger. The orbicularis oculi muscles are used to close the eyelids.
