Whitby harbour, North Yorkshire, c1955-c1980. A general view of buildings along the west side of the harbour, showing two and three storey shops along the pier and houses in the background, higher up the cliff. The building on the right side are part of a group of 18th century buildings on the Cragg, and include three storey buildings with modern shop fronts on the ground floor, and some two storey buildings on the left, with attics. On the cliff-face is Streonshall, a 19th century house which utilises the cliff, with five storeys at the rear of the house, and two at the front, with an octagonal turret on the left side of the front elevation with spire roof. On the left return is a lean-to roof over a four storey section.
