A nymph rufous grasshopper (Gomphocerippus rufus) distinguishable by the brown colour and the clubbed white tips on the antennae in adults. This insect is restricted to the south in Britain though more widespread in Europe, often found between July into late autumn in dry calcareous grassland habitats with long grass. This species can grow to around 2 centimetres in length.. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in June.
