The two cells at centre are joined by a structure that resembles a midbody so it is highly likely that the cells are in the final stages of cytokinesis. Cytokinesis is the physical process of cell division which divides the parental cell into two daughter cells. At the end of cytokinesis the two daughter cells remain connected by the midbody for a short time. The midbody is organised by a set of microtubules and its main function is to localize the site of natural detachment (abscission) between the two daughter cells. In the early stages of disease, pancreatic cancer often doesn't cause any signs or symptoms which makes early diagnosis very difficult. About 95% of pancreatic cancers start in the cells that are responsible for making enzymes (exocrine cells) and are known as exocrine tumours.
