STOURHEAD PARK, Stourton, Wiltshire. The picturesque Stourhead Park was created by Henry Hoare II and laid out between 1741-80. The valley was dammed to create a sheet of water. The Palladian Bridge (1762) and the Pantheon (1754) are just two of the garden structures which provided a focus for dramatic views. Photographed by Eric de Mare between 1945 and 1980.
