Butlin's Beaver Club membership badge, circa 1950s. The first Butlin?s Beaver Club was set up in 1951 and was an entertainment club for children aged 3 to 8 years. By all accounts they were extremely popular with the young guests and by 1962, over 200,000 young Beavers had been enrolled nationwide. The club?s slogan was 'Be as eager as a Beaver', hence the club?s name. When children enrolled in their Beaver Club, they were given their membership badge, a club card with the codes and rules and were looked after by their honorary Auntie and Uncle Redcoats who looked after the club members and provided entertainment. The Beaver Clubs ended in 1968. Older children at Butlins would have joined the 913 Club for those aged 9 to 13 years. Those aged 14 and 15 years would have joined the 15 Club. There were three variants of this design of badge.
